Library vs Learning Commons

Some people see a school library as a place full of tables and chairs with lots of books against the walls.  Some people think of a school library as a quiet place to if you want to read, find information or a book or magazine.

We want people to do that and more.....

• teach and learn together, adults and children working together
• make new ideas and show them online or in the room with a poster, a diorama, a graph, a model, blocks, paints, drawings, etc
• meet, talk and listen while we find information together
• move tables and chairs around so the place fits what they want to do
• make a place that looks like boys, girls and teens learn and share their ideas here instead of a magazine photo of a library

We want a new name for this place to show all the new things we want to do.... 
so the library has a new name: 
the learning commons!
